Description

The Cunha family played a distinguished role in Madeira’s history, having been the last residents of the iconic Quinta Vigia, today the official residence of the Regional Government of Madeira.

The estate came into the family by inheritance in the early 20th century and was later sold to the government in the 1970s by Tomás Cunha Santos, the last direct descendant of Júlio A. Cunha, who had founded the Cunha wine company in 1820.

The family’s wines, carefully preserved for generations, were acquired directly from Maria do Carmo Santos, widow of Tomás Cunha Santos. They mark the end of the Cunha family lineage.
